IN PICTURES: Fourways and surrounding communities give it their all on #MandelaDay

FOURWAYS – Nicole Capper showed off her bravery this Mandela Day when she summited Cathedral Peak in order to raise funds for the Caring4girls campaign.

“Mandela Day is an opportunity to challenge yourself for a purpose, and that’s exactly what we did. Together we climbed the highest freestanding peak in the Drakensberg. Ordinary South Africans – challenging ourselves to achieve something extraordinary for a purpose,” said Nicole Capper, who is Mrs South Africa 2018 and who summited Cathredal Peak this Mandela Day.

Meanwhile, Mandela Day was the realisation of Netcare Sunninghill and Netcare Waterfall Hospital’s vision.

John Juak, Joe Moreoselse and Bongani Mabaso were responsible for most of the house’s restoration.
Sapna Singh and Tracy Abrahams helped clean and cook for the children and their carers.
Healthcare staff worked tirelessly to turn the derelict house into a home for 12 orphaned children.
Anna Valerie, Natasha Conrad, Avni Shukla and Lebo Bothomane make up the pharmacy team and their fundraising efforts resulted in the purchase of a flat-screen TV, a DVD player, as well as DVDs and toys for the home.

Also, Comrades runner and domestic worker Stella Madlala cleaned up William Nicol Drive alongside eight other runners for 67 minutes for Mandela Day on 21 July.

Anyone who is able to help the runners with sponsorship for accommodation and transport for their upcoming runs can contact Stella on stellamdlala6@gmail.com or 081 471 3617.
