St Peter’s School celebrates Mandela Day

PAULSHOF - Pupils and staff of St Peter's School celebrated Mandela Day by donating books to Diepsloot and Sefikeng Primary schools.

The St Peter’s pupils spent part of their 67 minutes helping to build a ‘book wall’.

“Ground and maintenance staff also gave part of their 67 minutes assisting to get the book boxes to the truck for transportation,” said Kelly Bongers, marketing assistant for the school.

Bongers said each class, starting with Grade 0 boys and girls, had a chance to put their books on the wall, building the collection to more than 8 402 ‘book bricks’.

“The collection was split between Diepsloot and Sefikeng Primary schools, where each Grade 0, 1 and 2 will get a book of their own,” said Bongers

The school’s Mandela Day celebrations also included the singing of Happy Birthday to Madiba and holding special prayers for his health.
