Local artist Mpho Ntyatyambo finds her voice through music

Mpho Ntyatyambo is not just making music; she is weaving a tapestry of love, culture, and shared human experience through her EP, Echoes of the Soul.

Mpho Ntyatyambo glowed with pride after she launched her first four-track EP entitled Echoes of the Soul in Pineslopes. It has always been a desire for her to use her gifts to inspire, heal, and connect through the universal language of music.

Growing up in a household brimming with a diverse range of sounds – jazz, afro-soul, RnB, and gospel – she learned to find solace and love in melodies, shaping her into the music creator she is today.

For Ntyatyambo, music has always been more than just a hobby, it is the heart of her identity. “I was raised in a home that cherished music. It taught me how to heal and love through sound. Music became a safe space where I could explore my emotions.”

A pivotal moment in her artistry arrived when her husband introduced her to esteemed musician JRoss. Invited to showcase her vocal talent, she seized the opportunity to perform for JRoss, who was immediately taken with her unique sound.

“He told me: ‘There’s no way you’re not going to do something about your voice’. His encouragement pushed me to pursue my dream without hesitation.”

This encouragement led to the creation of her debut EP, Echoes of the Soul, a reflective journey through her personal experiences and cultural roots. “Every track on this EP represents a chapter of my life. I draw from my heritage and the stories of those who have influenced me,” she explains.

The title was inspired by the memories and emotions that shape who she is. “Each song reflects my longing, experiences, and the love I’ve been surrounded with.”

Each track on the EP has its significance. Track 1: Ntyatyambo, meaning flower, pays tribute to her late grandmother – a powerful figure in her life who instilled a sense of spirituality in her.

Track 2, Maphupho, which translates to dreams, serves as a heartfelt love song, while track 3, Legae, meaning home, encapsulates the warmth and love she feels for her family.

Track 4 Reitumetse, is dedicated to her daughter, where she imparts valuable life lessons and expresses her appreciation for motherhood.

“I want my audience to relate to the emotions and experiences I share. Music is for everyone,” she asserts.

As she looks ahead, Ntyatyambo envisions collaborations with artists she admires, particularly local sensation Zonke, whose soothing voice captivated her from the first listen. “Zonke is a beacon of artistry; her collaborations are evidence of the power of music to unite people,” she says.

Ntyatyambo aims to establish her own studio, a space where creativity can flourish. “I want to continue sharing my music through live performances.”

As she encourages aspiring musicians to embrace their passions, her wisdom resonates profoundly: “It’s never too late to start. If you love it and have support, go for it. Dreams can become a reality at any age.”
