Johannesburg welcomes Dada Morero as new mayor
Dada Morero of the African National Congress steps back into the role of executive mayor for the City of Johannesburg.
In a recent council meeting, Dada Morero has been elected as the executive mayor of Johannesburg, succeeding Al Jama-ah’s Kabelo Gwamanda, who resigned on August 13.
Morero was sworn in on August 16 during the 30th extraordinary council session at the Constance Bapela Council Chamber located in Braamfontein.

As the City’s Finance MMC and the ANC’s regional chairperson in Joburg, Morero brings a wealth of experience. He previously assumed the mayoral role in 2022, though his term lasted only 25 days before his removal.
