Crawford hosts thrilling interhouse athletic event

A spirited day of athletic rivalry concludes with Cameron and Ladson drawing first place.

Crawford Fourways was abuzz with energy and excitement as students from grades 1–7 took to the field for the annual athletics interhouse competition, showcasing their talents and team spirit.

The event brought together three houses, Barrett, Cameron, and Ladson, each vying for top honors on a day filled with races, relays, and fun activities that highlighted the school’s commitment to fostering athletic excellence and camaraderie among students.

The event kicked off with an array of activities specially tailored for junior students, who displayed remarkable enthusiasm and teamwork. Laughter and cheers filled the air as students participated in everything from obstacle races to traditional track events.

The results and awards were as follows:

• Junior Victrix Ludorum: Rainn Brescia.

• Junior Victor Ludorum: Desire Fowosere.

• Senior Victrix Ludorum: Kaho Hlalele.

• Senior Victor Ludorum: Matteo Uzorko.

When the dust settled, the results revealed a thrilling tie at the top, with Cameron and Ladson houses finishing with an impressive 304 points each. Barrett house followed closely behind, finishing third with 302 points in a nail-biting contest that had spectators on the edge of their seats.

Barrett house took the spirit trophy; the tight competition exemplified the spirited rivalry and determination demonstrated by the athletes representing their respective houses.

“Beyond the competitions, the annual athletics interhouse event fostered a strong sense of community, as students, parents, and faculty came together to support the participants. The day underscored the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and school spirit that Crawford Fourways instills in its students,” said Shivani Sahadeo, the school principal.

As the athletes celebrated their achievements and reflected on the camaraderie built throughout the day, one thing was clear, this year’s athletics interhouse competition was not just about winning but creating memories that would last a lifetime.
