Among the many talented groups that took to the stage was the Rainbow Line dancing group, made up of seniors aged 50–96.

The group, led by their coach, Leon Nel, had been preparing for a dance competition in September, and used the Mzansi Ballet 48-Hour Ballet and Dance Expo as an opportunity to hone their skills, and gain valuable experience. “We wanted to take our dancing to the next level, and get a taste of what it’s like to perform in front of a large audience. The expo was the perfect platform for us to do just that,” said Nel.

And perfect it was. The group’s high-energy performance left the audience in awe, showcasing their impressive skills and dedication to their craft. “I am thrilled with how they performed. They’ve worked hard to get to this point, and it’s amazing to see them shine on stage, but most importantly, having fun.”

The expo itself was a celebration of dance in all its forms, from ballet to contemporary, hip-hop, and line dancing. With something for everyone, attendees were treated to a full day of non-stop performances, masterclasses, and workshops.

It was an incredible experience for Rainbow Dancers – the expo was a chance to explore the full life cycle of dance – from learning the basics to perfecting their craft and ultimately performing in front of an audience. As they prepare for their upcoming competition in September, they’re confident that their experience at the Mzansi Ballet 48-Hour Ballet and Dance Expo has given them the edge they need to succeed.

“We’re excited to take what we’ve learned and apply it to our competition routine. We’re feeling confident and ready to show everyone what we’re capable of,” added Nel.
