Blanket drive to keep clinic patients warm

Witkoppen Clinic is currently seeking donations of warm clothing items to help keep patients comfortable and warm during the colder months.

Witkoppen Clinic has recently initiated the Warmer Winter Campaign, aiming to provide warmth to patients and people from underprivileged communities.

Sbonga Shange, the media liaison officer, said the primary objective of the campaign is to ensure that families in need are equipped to stay warm during the cold winter season.

He said they understand how cold the weather can be and therefore plead with the Fourways community to assist by supporting the initiative through donations.

“It is important for us to make sure our patients are warm and fuzzy during interactions at the clinic. We did see the need for such a campaign because people travel long distances to queue in the cold for health care. So, we want to take care of them from their house and all the way to the clinic.

“We are asking for any size and good condition second-hand or new items such as blankets, adult and children’s clothing, sneakers, boots, beanies, scarves, and gloves, among other items. Please join us in our efforts to make this winter warmer for everyone. We cannot do it without your help.”

Shange said the campaign is just an addition to their dedication to serving the community.

“We are always in constant need of items to support them and their families. We support over 700 orphans and vulnerable children and any patient in need of social support. We hope to be able to serve any who asks.”

The donations will be distributed in the clinic by the social service team as well as the satellite sites in Diepsloot, Lion Park and Msawawa. Shange added that the name of the campaign reflects the core purpose of bringing warmth and comfort to those facing challenges during the colder weather.

“Should you want to be part of the change that is brought about through Witkoppen Clinic, please contact 011 705 2438 or email businessd@witkoppen.co.za.”
