Cedarwood express their creative style
Using air-dry clay allows the young artists to express themselves in a fun and relaxing way.
Cedarwood School gave the learners a chance to show their artistic side by exposing them to air-dry clay.
Guided by their art teacher Leandri Koekemoer, the learners expressed their creative sides in different ways. “Working with clay enhances fine motor skills such as touch and sight. It is therapeutic, helps pupils relieve stress and creatively express their emotions.”
Various clay techniques were taught and clay pieces such as pendants and pen holders were made. “I am proud of the unique creativity the pupils captured in the pieces.”
She said this activity also serves as a booster to their self-esteem. “The learners got to make something unique out of something ordinary such as a piece of clay.”
“Learners will learn about different arts and crafts on Mondays and with each lesson I can see how their crafting skills and eye for detail improve. They are making me so proud.”
