Thieves behind bars after police operation

Police have been successful in putting criminals behind bars over the weekend through an operation.

From September 8–10, the Douglasdale police arrested 20 suspects during the station’s crime prevention operation that was conducted throughout the area.

According to Captain Mpho Tshetlhane, the suspects were arrested for different crimes ranging from business breaking, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, fraud, dealing in liquor without a licence, shoplifting, drunk and driving and reckless and negligent driving.

The last two of the suspects aged 40 and 45 were arrested on September 10 for business breaking at Kya Sand. The suspects appeared in Randburg Magistrate’s Court on September 12.

Tshetlhane credits teamwork and extends her gratitude to the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department, CPF, neighbourhood watch, security companies and ward councillors who also took part during the operation. She said it yielded success.

The police appeal to members of the community to keep on reporting all criminal activities in their area by phoning Douglasdale police on 011 699 1300 or 071 675 7158 or 086 001 0111 or alternatively, use the MySAPSApp to provide tip-offs anonymously and/ or to find their nearest police station.
