Fourways paddlers win mixed couple race

Fourways paddlers win as the mixed couple at the flat marathon session.

Fourways paddlers shone in the flat water marathon race hosted by the Florida Lake Canoe Club on August 19.

Ryan Rodda and Elandrie Zietsman lead the race.

Ryan Rodda partnered with Elandrie Zietsman to finish as the winning mixed couple in a time of 1:48:00. Brothers Peter and Keith Flemmer finished just ahead of them in 1:46:00 as the fourth paddlers in the U50 category.

The event included a 6km race for U8 to U12 age group paddlers, a 10km course for the less fit and newer paddlers, and a 20km long race for the stronger, fitter, and more energetic sportsmen.

Paddlers participate in a flat water marathon race hosted by the Florida Lake Canoe Club.

The weather also came to the party by being sunny but the wind made the water choppy. The race attracted about 90 participants.
