Douglasdale police share safety tips with the community of Dainfern Ridge Estates.

To enhance community safety and support victims, the Douglasdale Police recently teamed up with the Community Police Forum (CPF), Netcare, and the campaign for the Domestic Workers Forum at Dainfern Ridge Estates. Together, they organised an informative event to raise awareness about various crimes and provide essential resources to community members.

The event focused on addressing prevalent issues such as banking fraud, common robberies, theft, domestic violence, protection orders, services available for victims of abuse, human trafficking and reporting criminal activities. The objective was to educate residents about these topics, empowering them to take proactive measures to protect themselves and their families.

During the event, representatives from the Douglasdale Police delivered presentations on each subject, sharing vital information and practical tips to help community members recognise and prevent crimes. They highlighted the importance of safeguarding personal information, such as banking details and providing guidance on how to identify potential scams and fraudulent activities.

Additionally, the police emphasised the significance of reporting criminal incidents promptly, as timely reporting plays a crucial role in apprehending perpetrators and preventing further crimes. They shared the various channels available through which residents could report criminal activities, ensuring everyone knew the appropriate steps to take.

Night Guard raised awareness on home safety tips, burglary and the importance of panic buttons. Netcare presented First Aid, emergency numbers, and steps to take if someone gets burnt.

Awareness of domestic violence and the availability of protection orders were other crucial aspects of the event. Experts from Netcare and the Campaign to the Domestic Workers Forum provided valuable insights into recognising signs of domestic abuse, steps to protect oneself or others, and the legal procedures involved in obtaining protection orders. They also highlighted the support services available to victims of abuse, emphasising the importance of breaking the silence and seeking help.
