Miss Pru collabs with local stars in new song

The star has challenged her comfort zone in a new song that speaks about love. She said she collaborated with local artists so that she can groom them into the spotlight.

Prudence Sebalo who goes by the stage name, Miss Pru, tackles love in its truest form in a new Amapiano single she titled, Khetha Wena. The star said it feels good to be back on the music scene.

After she parted ways with her former record label, Ambitiouz Entertainment, Miss Pru wanted to share the stage with up-and-coming local artists in Fourways.

“I worked with Q-Mark, Afriikan Papi and Slick Widit who are the hit makers of Paris that have been topping the charts. We also worked with Amahle a young up-and-coming vocalist,” she said.

She said she loves love, and that is why she wrote the song to depict the beauty of love and energies when they are reciprocated.

“I want to make it fulfilling [especially] after everything I went through. This feels like the beginning of a new journey,” she said.

Local rising star Amahle Gasa is proud that she features on DJ Miss Pru’s single, Khetha Wena.

“Khetha wena is an African Amapiano love song that talks about experiencing love in its fullness and being able to reciprocate that same love. It is about people choosing each other and weathering the storm, in this life and the next,” she explained.

And when she got in the studio, she said she realized that its a feeling she has been missing for quite some time, “I love, love and I still recall being in the studio working on the song and being genuinely happy for the first time in a while, and thinking ‘I choose me’. This song is an affirmation of my current season. A season of looking in the mirror and saying “khetha wena” and meaning it.”

She said ever since the release of her new single, she was met by nothing but warm welcomes everywhere.

“I’ve always loved house music and back when I started Amapiano was called ‘grootman music’ so it’s amazing to see people embracing it as we did more than 12 years ago.”

Amahle Gasa, a singer from Hammarsdale in KZN, said she did not expect to be featured in a song with an award-winning artist. She said the story of how they met proved she was at the right place and at the right time.

“I was in the studio and when I was about to leave, Miss Pru came through to start her recording session. She opened a beat and I started harmonies. I was unaware that she recognized a great talent and asked me to hook in. This made me appreciate life a lot more and be grateful for how God works and could open doors for a person unknowingly.”

She said she was still in awe. “It felt great and unbelievable, more especially of how the song came about. It really means a lot to me and always believe that she is a God-send because of how we met.”
