After a short break, brilliant defence from Old Eds denied Beaulieu another goal in a penalty corner. Their strong defence came in handy once more to prevent another attempt at a field goal. With one minute left until half-time, Marvin Simons extended Beaulieu’s lead to 3–0 from brilliant team work.
Four minutes into the third chukka, Thabang Digale rocketed the ball and Beaulieu to a 4–0 from an awarded penalty corner. Possession for the home side was high as there were a number of opportunities Beaulieu had to extend their lead. Gerald Mpopo struck to put his team at 5–0.

The final 15 minutes of the game provided plenty opportunity. Old Eds had a chance of adding a goal to the scoreboard after being awarded a penalty corner. Beaulieu defender and captain, Jesse Salo swatted the ball from the post to keep the sheet clean.
Two more penalty corners went in Beaulieu’s favour, but they were unable to extend their lead.
Old Eds coach, Anthony Davies praised the opposition for their performance in the match.

“They are reigning league champions and are a very strong team. They are playing against Eds who have lost a few players in the last year to other clubs. We held as best as we could,” he said.

“In our next match, we have to play to the situation. We’ve got a number of players who couldn’t make the game today because of provincial trials and we didn’t have many substitutions on the bench. We’ve got to control the tempo of the game a little more.”
