6-year-old Fourways model graces international stage

At just six years old, Malkia Kogo has made history on the African continent.

Born in Fourways, the established young model, influencer, brand ambassador and philanthropist was the first five-year-old child from the African continent to walk the runway in the Big Apple at this year’s New York Fashion Week.

The trailblazing little star is set to make her return to America soon, after making her mark and impressing fashion designers based there and in Australia. Malkia is no stranger to local designers and fashion. She walked the runway at the Durban Fashion Flair and Nelson Mandela Square Fashion without Borders shows.

Her parents say they noticed that Malkia had a knack for fashion and modelling when she was still a toddler.
“She has always been a very confident and outgoing little girl with a natural flair for performing,” said Zandi Kogo, her mom.

“We prioritise Malkia’s safety and well-being in everything we do,” added Zandi.

Malkia won her first pageant at the age of two and was crowned Miss Johannesburg and Miss Gauteng in her respective age categories.
