The Woman of Stature Foundation awarded women for their excellence and impact on society.

The Woman of Stature Foundation crowned 2023’s ‘woman of stature’ at its annual awards ceremony.

The Woman of Stature Awards honours women for their excellence and impact on society and is in its eighth consecutive year. This year’s awards were held at the Indaba Hotel, Spa, and Conference Centre in Fourways on March 8.

Winners are outstanding women in technology, science and innovation, media education, community development, coaching and mentoring, beauty and fashion, arts and culture, entrepreneurship, and the big one – CEO of the Year.

The event also hosted a two-day business summit where entrepreneurs pitched their businesses to investors in what was called a ‘deal room’. The theme for this was ‘dream bigger’, to encourage and open the minds of businesswomen to other ideas of entrepreneurship, thinking beyond being business leaders in South Africa and also looking into strategies that may allow them to work beyond the borders of South Africa.

The awards ceremony opened blind voting to the public for them to vote for a candidate of their choice.
Yael Geffen was the incredible woman who was crowned as this year’s CEO of the Year. Geffen is the head of Sotheby’s International Realty. Geffen said “I was thrilled to be chosen as the CEO of the Year. A lot of time, as women, we don’t recognise the impact we make while we are doing the hard work.”

Besides being entrepreneurial, Geffen is also an exceptional public speaker who has experience in radio broadcasting, having produced her shows from 2013 to 2017. She has also been crowned the 2020 Standard Bank’s prestigious Top Women in Property Award, a top 30 finalist in the Strategic African Women in Leadership Awards in November 2021, and is passionate about elevating women in business and authentic leadership.
