Witkoppen Clinic fast-tracks services

The Witkoppen Clinic has recently stepped up its service delivery with its new booking system.

Witkoppen Clinic has stepped up its service delivery with a new booking system.

The clinic provides comprehensive healthcare to more than 250 patients per day. It assists those who are unable to afford expensive private healthcare and those who work long hours are able to book their appointments.

The optional, fast-track service aims to improve the efficiency of the system. “It [the new service] is called Tswelopele and it means ‘moving forward’,” said Sposethu Kweyi of Tswelopele Clinic.

“It is an advanced system that we have introduced instead of people having to wait in line, waiting for queue numbers only to be cut off and get sent back home. Patients can now book their time and date to consult and the only difference is that when you book, you pay R250, whereas walk-in is only R100.”

The system was introduced on February 13. Patients can make an appointment beforehand – online or over the phone – or at the clinic. This will help the clinic better maximise the number of patients they can help in a day. “This is just a way to bring in more patients to the clinic and help them benefit by not sending them home without being helped.
“We feel people are slowly understanding and getting used to it. We try to help them understand because it gets awkward when patients are in the queue and someone just walks in to be helped in front of them.”

Witkoppen Clinic business development intern Sbonga Shange added, “It really helps patients who are in a hurry or must go to work. They can get help for R250, which includes medication, and just like that they can continue with the day. It is helpful and most patients are warming up to it and soon we will be fully depending on it.”
