An up-and-coming model from Fourways set to walk the catwalk of New York Fashion
Thirteen-year-old Giselle Niemand will walk among some of the best at New York Fashion Week in February.
A young Fourways resident will be walking at one of fashion’s most illustrious events in New York.
Giselle Niemand (13) who not only has an interest and talent in singing, acting, and dancing, also has a growing career in modelling. She has been given the opportunity to walk at New York Fashion Week from February 9 to 11.
Last year, the young artist took a trip to Hollywood where she recorded her first three original, brand-new singles and filmed two music videos to be released in February.
Upon hearing the news, Giselle said she felt honoured to be showcasing at the world’s biggest fashion week. “I feel so grateful and honoured that I have this amazing opportunity to walk at the New York Fashion Week. I am so excited and cannot wait to experience the runway in the Big Apple showcasing the designer Mitch Desunia designs,” she said.
Giselle was scouted in Los Angeles when competing at the World Championships of Performing Arts as she won medals for modelling and had made it into the final showcase modelling.
“I had the opportunity to walk in September 2022, but we just returned from Los Angeles competing at The World Championships of Performing Arts and I had to catch up with my school work,” she said.
“But then the most amazing news came that I was offered to walk at the New York Fashion Week this year for Mitch Desunia. I am so excited and so grateful for this amazing opportunity.”
Giselle is also making waves with her singing career. She secured a contract in Hollywood with Upscale Recording and Production. It was there she had the opportunity to be produced by Manny Mijares – a Grammy award-winning producer, film producer and talent manager.
Locally, she was cast as the lead in commercials for brands such MTN and Morvite. She had also been in the DSTV shows Begin Sing and Kids With Talent SA.
With the future of her career looking incredibly bright, Giselle said she has the dream to model for a number of high-end and well-known fashion brands.
“I am focused to work hard and build myself toward walking for all the major brands like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Balenciaga, Dior, Prada, Saint Laurent, Chanel and there are so many that I would love to work with.”
