Matric top achiever at Dainfern College believes family support can help learners achieve good results

Top achiever advised matric class of 2023 learners to believe in themselves and put enough time in their academic work.

Top achiever of Cambridge A Level stream at Dainfern College, Makanaka Nyengerai said setting your goals accordingly and hard work can help youngsters achieve their academic goals.

Makanaka who was a Cambridge dux scholar for AS Level in 2021 and for A level in 2022 achieved a superb A level result of A* in chemistry, A in history, and A in mathematics said she was heading to the University of Cape Town this year to pursue a degree in actuarial science.

While at Dainfern College Makanaka was awarded a Red Blazer (the highest honour the college can bestow) in 2022 for her stellar achievements in public speaking, soccer, academics, and leadership.

“I am really excited to achieve my goal of getting three As. I am going to pursue a degree in actuarial science at the University of Cape Town. My family was my pillar and source of my strength through their support before and during my exams.”

She advised the class of 2023 learners to believe in themselves and put enough time into their academic work.

“If you want to achieve your academic goals at the end of the year, you need to start putting more time and effort in your work now. If you find yourself struggling, I advise speaking to your teachers and parents early in order to avoid setbacks.”
