Chartwell’s Unity College display multiple talent at concert
From song to dance, Unity College learners explored and showed their hidden talents to their families and friends.
A Chartwell-based school celebrated different cultures in their themed concert.
Unity College hosted the ‘Under the African Sun’ concert which saw a number of learners dance, sing, and show their talent to parents and staff at the school.
The principal at the school, Jeanine Kerr said there were a number of similarities and reasons for the theme at their concert.

“This theme was chosen to celebrate our different cultures and highlight all the good we have in our land,” she said.
“Our themes touched on the weather: rain, sunshine and our dramatic Johannesburg storms. Song and dance were used as a vehicle of expression for our children, including African-themed music and dance.”
The concert showcased individual talents while including all learners equally, and in the process, they were able to find some hidden talents within the learners. “We saw a different side to many of our learners when they took the stage. There was a huge turnout of parents, family, and friends who joined to support their Unity College child or young adult,” said Kerr.
“Walking amongst the audience during intermission was a heart-warming experience as the universal response was ‘I didn’t know my child could do that’.
The concert made us realise that anything is possible!”
