DBRF joins forces with community members to revive verge garden on Douglas Drive and Leslie Avenue West
Local business joins hands with Douglasdale residents to restore community verge garden on Douglas Drive.
In their quest for a cleaner, greener and safe neighbourhood, Douglasdale Business and Residents Forum (DBRF) and members of the community braved wet weather to revive and titivate the community verge garden.
The community garden at the intersection Douglas Drive and Leslie Avenue West was started by the current chairperson of DBRF, Susan Mottram and her deputy, Ruth Fleming, 15 years ago.
Mottram said she believes that a cleaner environment can help make the neighbourhood look good and contribute toward minimising crime in the area. “We would like to thank all residents who came out in their numbers to help us revive our community verge garden.
“Curro Douglasdale funded the brand new slip road and pavement running down the bottom of Leslie Ave West into Douglas Drive and donated plants to beautify our garden.”
She also thanked Care Takers, Handy Man and other local businesses who supported this year’s efforts to keep the garden in good condition. “The DBRF sponsors are grateful to the community members who helped restore the section of our verge garden that was undone during the construction of the slip road and pavement which was much needed. We appreciate Curro’s investment in the area.”
