Local author hopes to inspire young people to start their businesses through his recently released book.

A 10-year-old Lonehill book author and Grade 4 learner at Crawford College Lonehill learner, Prince Mashawana recently launched his first book titled The Diary of a Superhero.

Prince, who is also known as SuperMash, is the first black child superhero in Africa and also the youngest participant in the world to do a Ted talk. Prince said his book was aimed at teaching children how to start their first business while they are still in primary and high school to make extra cash.

Prince said he was inspired by the massive growth of children who earn a stable monthly income because of social media platforms like Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and Tik Tok. “The book is all about ‘Kidpreneurship’. It educates kids in a fun and practical way on how to start a business while still in school. The book teaches youngsters how to build a business from the concept phase and takes them through the exciting journey of becoming a business owner. It also teaches youngsters how to do a pitch deck for investments and how to improve their marketing on social media to get clients.”

He said one of his favourite chapters in the book was the one that provide tips on how to keep customers happy. “One of the important things in the business is to keep your customers happy at all times. I realised that young entrepreneurs need to know that rather than being happy for the sake that they made.”

He said the book was available in all major bookstores across the country.
