Traffic light at a busy intersection of William Nicole Drive and Robert Bruce Road finally fixed

Local councillor said there were at least 20 odd accidents that happened place at the intersection since the traffic light power went off.

Ward 94 councillor David Foley said power restoration at the traffic light on the corner of William Nicole Drive and Robert Bruce Road will bring relief to motorists.

This was after the traffic light in one of the busiest intersections in Fourways went off three months ago because of power problems.

Foley said Eskom came and restored power in the traffic lights after a number of attempts to have it fixed. “The key factor is safety and traffic flow and of course vehicles not driving on the pedestrian walkway. There were at least 20-odd accidents over the time period [when the light wasn’t working]. Crossing the intersection from Robert Bruce Road, especially at night was extremely dangerous as motorists did not stop at all.”

He said the delays to traffic lights fixing was causing inconvenience to residents who find themselves stuck in traffic for many hours.
