DIEPSLOOT - Armed robbery victim airlifted from Diepsloot fire station

A man in his 20s was critically wounded during an armed robbery.

On 15 July Vanessa Jackson, spokesperson for ER24, said the man was inadvertently caught up in an armed robbery at a shop in the informal settlement.

“Our Johannesburg North Advanced Life Support paramedic was first to arrive on the scene and was escorted to where the patient was.

The man was found to have sustained a wound to his stomach and after assessment it was clear that he was bleeding internally,” said Jackson.

The victim was still alert and responded to questions by paramedics. He was transported under Advanced Life Support care to the Diepsloot Fire Station by ambulance.

“The young man was airlifted to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital for further medical care,” Jackson said.

Police are still investigating the details surrounding the cause of the shooting.
