WATCH: “We will fight” declares former Joburg Mayor Dr Mpho Phalatse
Twitter users have mixed reactions as Dr Phalatse promises to return soon.
After an unsuccessful attempt to stop the motion of no confidence against her on September 30, to step down from her position as Johannesburg Mayor, Dr Mpho Phalatse is adamant that this is not over.

In a video statement made shortly after she was forced to step down, Phalatse says what happened was an injustice and unlawful. “We are waiting for the courts to redeem the residents of Johannesburg… We believe in our judicial system and that justice will be served,” she said.
She extended her gratitude to her supporters and assured them that she will fight.
“Hang in there, we will fight for you, we will fight to see our city rebuilt again…see you soon.”
Here’s what Twitter users had to say:
You will be back if not mayor – probably the premier come 2024! The voters took the bote away from the ANC, opposition parties gave it back but the voters will change their vote.

You can still do more in opposition benches, ensuring that citizens remain a priority in the work of the council and ensuring that those in power are held accountable.
