Diepsloot Youth Programme director encourages local youngsters to utilise their development programmes

A local community developer encourages youth to utilise DYP programmes to equip themselves.

Sophy Tlhabadira, one of the directors at Diepsloot Youth Programme, writes:

My name is Sophy Tlhabadira, one of the directors at Diepsloot Youth Programme (DYP) non-profit organisation that helps local young people thrive and become better versions of themselves through different programmes we offer.

Our organisation also helps educate young people about different kinds of drugs and the impact that drugs can have in their lives, and provide free classes in drama, acting and theatre through our drama/arts and other different sports programmes.

What inspires me as a local youth developer is the need to create a change, giving opportunities and enabling what is already there.

The youth of today have so much potential and so much being made ready for them, and we as the DYP are there for them to just unlock that door.

Sophy Tlhabadira enjoys helping youngsters realise their dreams.

The smiles and appreciation from young people whom we have helped through our work give me strength and courage to continue helping others.

I also work with a number of young micro farmers in Riverside View, helping them with necessary skills and source resources from different sponsors. I strongly believe that farming can help us alleviate hunger in our communities if young people get involved in farming.

I call on young people from Diepsloot and surrounding areas to visit our organisation in order for us to help them maximise their talents.
