Broadacres Academy learner selected to be part of Golden Lions U13 team

Local rugby player has a dream to play for the national rugby team one day

A 13-year-old Fourways-based rugby player has been selected for the U13 Golden Lions team.

A Grade 7 learner at Broadacres Academy, Lincoln Schutte was among 23 players who were selected on September 1 after trials.

Lincoln said, “Being part of the Golden Lions junior team means a lot to me. It will allow me to thrive more in the position that I play. I will be playing against people whom I’ve never met before and it will pose a challenge which I’m ready for.

“My dream is to play for the Springboks or Blitzboks one day and the journey towards that dream is on track. I would like to change the way people perceive the game because not many people understand why a person would play such a harsh and high-impact sport so passionately.”
