Preschool gets facelift for Mandela Day

Children at Genesis Preschool enjoyed a fun day of games while a local NPO also painted the school building.

As part of their 67 minutes for Mandela efforts, local NPO Abcon Group Foundation spent their time in Diepsloot with one of their beneficiaries.

The foundation visited Genesis Preschool to paint the school’s buildings as well as spend time with the children, according to the foundation’s Mmbatho Koena.

She said all the items donated to the school and the paint used were provided by the NPO.
“We spent the day playing games, face painting, and sharing a meal together, but most importantly assisting the school to get all the classroom containers painted. We support the school, as our vision is to deliver impactful community-uplifting solutions.

“The foundation provides transformation solutions within the following pillars – socio-economic development, skills development and training, as well as enterprise and supplier development. However, these opportunities are not limited,” she said.

The foundation has supported the preschool for the past few years in providing a number of necessities such as a new rood (crucifix), kitchen floor, food vouchers and bathroom. The preschool has 59 children from the ages of 17 months up to six years.
