670 meals in bags for Mandela Day

Caxton, SPARK Media, Kwanza and BMI employees make their mark for Mandela Day by packing meal bags.

Little comes close to the warm feelings induced by knowing you have positively affected the life of another, no matter how big or small the gesture may be.

With this mind, for their 67 minutes for Mandela Day, Caxton Joburg north and its affiliates came together to make a difference on July 18 by putting and donating meals to a local organisation.

Noah Can is a non-profit organisation that supports vulnerable people who were financially affected by the lockdown, and does so in various areas across the greater community, such as Norwood, Orange Grove, Houghton as well as Alexandra and Diepsloot.

Under the Caxton Cares banner, many within the organisation as well as those from Spark Media, Kwanza, CTP Isando and BMI, came together and packed 683 Meals in a Bag.

A bag consisted of split peas, lentils, rice, stock cubes, soup mix and a special handwritten note of hope to accompany each donation.

This initiative was made possible with donations from Pick n Pay Coachman’s Crossing, Goodman’s Butchery at Carreira Centre, and West Pack Express Blairgowrie.

Noah Can volunteer, Katie Stubbs said, “We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the Caxton Group and partners who will enable us to truly make a difference in the lives of indigent people and vulnerable families in Joburg.”
