Watch: Eskom gets served with yet another memorandum

Members of the African People’s Convention (APC) led by the party’s president Themba Godi arrived at Eskom’s headquarters at Megawatt Park, Sunninghill to deliver a memorandum of demands to the utility’s management on July 13.

On July 1, members of the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) also submitted their memorandum of demands to Eskom, calling for the power utility’s CEO, André de Ruyter, to step down. This came after Eskom announced that Stage 6 load-shedding would be implemented.

Godi said South Africans can no longer bear the pain brought by load-shedding.
“We can’t just sit back and fold our arms while things are getting out of hand. We came here to call on ANC-led government to do away with the privatisation of Eskom.”
Senior manager for customer services in Gauteng, Daphne Mokwena accepted the document on behalf of the utility.
