Fifty-six suspects were arrested by officers of various police stations in the Johannesburg area from June 24 to 26.
According to Captain Mpho Tshetlhane, spokesperson for Douglasdale police, the arrests were made by members of Douglasdale, Diepsloot, Randburg, Honeydew, Linden, Florida and Roodepoort police stations.
“The suspects were arrested for different crimes ranging from possession of suspected stolen property, malicious damage to property, contravention of Immigration Act, drunk and driving, shoplifting and dealing in liquor without a licence,” said Tshetlhane.
She said all the arrested suspects would appear in the Randburg and Roodepoort magistrate’s courts soon.
