Community members volunteer their time to raise donations for the homeless and Fourways fire victims

The chairperson of Douglasdale Business and Residents Forum said some of the items will be donated to the Fourways family that lost a family member and possessions during a fire incident in their home.

The chairperson of Douglasdale Business and Residents Forum, Susan Mottram has thanked members of the community for their compassion and generosity following a successful Re/Max Masters Coats and Cans Collection initiative in Fourways.

Mottram and other members of the community embarked on the donation drive at Kingfisher Spar on May 28.

Generous community members donated different kinds of food items, toiletries, clothes and monetary donations to lend a helping hand to the displaced people of Johannesburg.

She said, “On May 24, a Fourways family lost a family member, their home and possessions in a fire incident. Following this terrible tragedy, a portion of these donations to our Coats and Cans Collection drive will be donated to this family.”

She added the balance of the donations would be delivered to the Johannesburg Organisation of Services to the Homeless non-profit organisation that helped displaced people in Johannesburg.
