Murder suspect among 26 arrests in police operations

Twenty-six suspects, including a Kya Sands murder suspect were arrested in multiple operations conducted by Douglasdale police.

A 33-year-old murder suspect was among 26 arrested during multiple operations held by Douglasdale police between June 13 and 19.

The male suspect was arrested for the alleged murder of a 26-year-old man in Kya Sands on June 16. He was remanded in custody after appearing in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on June 20.

Spokesperson Captain Mpho Tshetlhane said, “The suspects were arrested for different crimes ranging from sexual assault, murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm, pointing of firearm, possession of drugs, assault to cause grievous bodily harm, fraud, malicious damage to property, dealing in liquor without a licence, shoplifting and drunk driving.”

Police have continued to encourage community members to keep reporting all criminal activities in their areas by phoning the station on 011 699 1300 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111. Alternatively, they can use the MySAPS app to send anonymous tip-offs or go to the nearest police station.
