Danni-Leigh Slater qualifies to compete at the World Lyrical Dance Championships in Dublin

She also placed number one in her age section and received a special award for outstanding technique displayed.

A 14-year-old Fourways-based dancer, Danni-Leigh Slater, has recently qualified to compete at the World Lyrical Dance Championships, Ireland.

The prestigious dance competition will take place from July 28 to July 31 in the City of Dublin.

She recently competed at the World Lyrical Dance Federation (WLDF) Competition in the Johannesburg qualifier in Level 1 for her lyrical solo ‘Wondering’.

She was listed and ranked in 10th place out of 75 dancers worldwide on the WLDF world rankings table.

She also placed number one in her age section and received a special award for outstanding technique displayed.

Danni-Leigh, who is a student at Natasha Academy of Dancing in Lonehill, said she was excited that her hard work and dedication to her craft has paid off. “I am extremely excited to qualify for the World Lyrical Dance Federation competition.

“Lyrical dance is a dance style that embodies various aspects of ballet, jazz, acrobatics, and modern dance. Lyrical dance often uses music with lyrics to inspire the movements of the dancer displaying emotional moods, connecting with the audience.”

Danni-Leigh is currently preparing herself for other dance competitions to be held later throughout the year, including the American Dance Awards regional championships.
