Two injured in fight at Montecasino

The two involved in the altercation were taken to the on-site clinic at Montecasino and no further incidents took place.

An incident at Montecasino on May 28 saw two people injured after an altercation.

It is alleged that a physical altercation took place in the Piazza at the establishment.

Attendee on the evening, Lisa Sukdev said that security dealing with the matter were ill-equipped, and only arrived after a period of time. She said that patrons were subjected to glass bottles and furniture being thrown around the area.

“I was watching the final match [Liverpool vs Real Madrid] at Montecasino when the fight broke out. When the altercation took place, it seemed like forever before ill-equipped security arrived in at the scene.

“Patrons like me were subjected to flying glass and people being pushed around. Apparently they took both injured parties to the on-site clinic and a further altercation [allegedly] ensued,” she said.

Devashini Govender, communications manager at Montecasino confirmed that the altercation took place, and that the matter was resolved in under 10 minutes.

“Montecasino regrettably confirms that a domestic dispute between family occurred on the Piazza on the evening of May 28. As per standard protocol, security and paramedics were called, and the situation was diffused swiftly – two guests were injured and taken to the onsite clinic, along with the rest of the family.

“The injured guests were treated and returned to the Piazza without further incident. Montecasino would like to assure all our guests that their safety is of the utmost importance when visiting Montecasino,” she said.
