A number of mothers, aunts, grandmothers and their young children celebrated Mother’s Day early.

Young learners and their mother figures enjoyed the Mother’s Day High Tea on May 6 at Junior Colleges Fairfield. They were treated to a light breakfast followed by a poem performed by the young school attendees.

Mothers decorated cupcakes with their children and took home a small poster with a photo and a Mother’s Day wish from their child.
Principal Bianca Durrant said the morning was a successful one for both the learners and their mothers. “We are celebrating our mothers to show them how special they are and how much they mean to the learners. We at Junior Colleges are very family orientated so we are always involved with our parents, and we wanted to show them how appreciated they are,” she said.

“The learners did their own arts and crafts that they worked on during the week. They made the frames and cards that the moms will get to keep.”
Each family got to take a photo with their children that will be printed for the families to remember the morning.

Durrant said it is certainly a breath of fresh air in seeing parents and children, now that regulations allow for events to take place and schools are opening up again.
“It is really nice to have that interaction again with the learners and parents where we can have events like this again. We have a number of events still to come at the school including Father’s Day and Grandparents’ Day,” she concluded.
