Three boys drown in Diepsloot

The drowning incidents are still being investigated.

Three bodies of young boys aged eight to 10 were discovered beside a river stream in Diepsloot on April 18 at about 14:00.

The bodies were found by City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services Aquatic Rescue Unit and SAPS Water Wing. The circumstances behind the drowning tragedy were still being investigated.

Robert Mulaudzi, the spokesperson for City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services encouraged parents and adults to keep an eye on young children and to keep them away from rivers or streams to prevent more drownings. He added that young children may be enticed to play near rivers or streams now that the water levels have risen as a result of the rain over the Easter weekend.
