Police arrest 33 suspects during two-day operation in Douglasdale precinct

Douglasdale police spokesperson said the police will continue to work with the community and other law enforcement agencies to deal with all forms of criminality.

A total of 33 suspects were arrested by the South African Police Service in the Douglasdale precinct for crimes ranging from fraud, shoplifting and theft on March 30 and 31.

Douglasdale Police Station spokesperson Captain Mpho Tshetlhane said the arrested suspects will appear at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court while others paid admission of guilty fines.

She said the police were joined by immigration officers from the Department of Home Affairs, JMPD, Gauteng Traffic and Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) during a two-day operation.

“Police arrested 33 people, including 19 undocumented foreign nationals during a two-day operation. Seven of the suspects were arrested during the operation which was held on March 30 for crimes ranging from fraud, shoplifting and theft,” Tshetlhane said.

“The other 26 suspects were arrested during a multi-disciplinary Operation Okae Molao which was led by the Johannesburg District commissioner General Max Masha on March 31. The suspects were arrested for fraud, contravention of PSIRA and undocumented persons.”

Tshetlhane said the police will continue to work with the community and other law enforcement agencies to deal with all forms of criminality.
