To celebrate World Read Aloud Day on February 2, learners from Dainfern College’s high school were given the opportunity to read stories to the preparatory school learners.
Throughout the day, three reading sessions were held. A group of Grade 8 learners read to Grade 4s, and some also read to Grade 5 learners. A Grade 11 group also read to the Grade 0 learners.
Learners from the high school chose the books from the College Media Centre before being paired up with the younger learners for story time in a quiet spot under the trees.

The Grade 4 and 5 learners came to school dressed as various idioms with outfits portraying ‘It’s raining cats and dogs’, ‘A chip on your shoulder’ or ‘smart cookie’.
It was a great celebration of reading, with the learners ready to take part in the festivities next year.
