Seasons greeting from CoJ Mayor

JOBURG – The City's first female mayor won’t be taking time off this festive season to ensure the City works for all residents and businesses.

A festive season of hard work awaits the new mayor.

The Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Dr Mpho Phalaste, has shared her festive greetings and well wishes with the residents of the City as her and the City ramp up their efforts to make the City a better place for us all.
Phalatse expressed, “The year 2021 has been very challenging and exhausting for Johannesburg residents, with many having lost loved ones and their livelihoods. The festive season is a very crucial time for all of us to be with our loved ones and find ways to relax. We all deserve a breather period to recharge and energise ourselves for the New Year.”
She hopes and wishes that Joburgers will enjoy this special time with friends and family.

The mayor took a second to reflect on some of the achievements and milestones reached this year. “The biggest highlight for me was being elected the first female mayor for the City of Johannesburg. I believe my election was a monumental moment for the women of Johannesburg and South Africa. Women must never hesitate in raising their hand and being heard. Do not wait for an opportunity to come by; go out and seek it.”
Going forward, the mayor and the coalition partners will continue to work together to create a government that works for residents and businesses in the City of Gold.

Phalatse stated that the City won’t be taking any time off this festive season to ensure that they are ready for the demands of 2022. “We have just had a change in the administration which has brought about its own set of challenges. The City has deadlines that must be met including the tabling of annual reports, Integrated Development Plan and adjustment budgets. While many will be relaxing with their families, I will be leading the process of ensuring that these crucial milestones are reached.”
