Local club gets into the science of soccer
FOURWAYS – Athletes at the Starlets School of Excellence Elite Football Academy are set to receive a wealth assistance in sports medical expertise.

A Fourways-based football academy has partnered with the University of Pretoria’s Sport, Exercise Medicine and Lifestyle Institute (Semli).
Some services that will be offered to Starlets School of Excellence Elite Football Academy by the institute will include sports science and sports medical expertise to players focused on areas such as strength and conditioning, performance diagnostics and medical screening.

Academy head coach, Kennie Mariness said, “I am excited to work with a top sports science institute whose work will greatly enhance our player development programme and support us in producing elite athletes who can rise above the highest technical, physical, and mental demands of competitive football.
“As a coach and having personally been through an academy system, I will instil the drive and discipline necessary for my young players to make the most of this exciting new opportunity.”
Evans Musodza of the academy added it was important to partner with the best in their respective fields to develop elite athletes.
