FOURWAYS – For the third year in a row, community members were welcomed to enjoy Christmas early while walking through the village to view various colourful lights.
Community members were witness to a bright opening at Montecasino on November 23 to welcome the festive season when the Christmas lights were switched on at the establishment.
Families took photos of the various light decorations in the Tuscan Village of teddy bears, sleighs and white Christmas trees. The night began with a performance by Talia Kodesh and Tiaan Rautenbach of Christmas song Santa Baby. Director of operations and manager of Montecasino, Mike Page said more than 285 000 LED lights had been used this year, which was an increase from last year’s 200 000.
“It is wonderful to be here again three years in a row… The weekends here have been getting very busy again. We are almost back to 70% of our 2019 figures, and we haven’t even reached Christmas yet,” he said. Thando Thabethe, the presenter of the 947 Drive with Thando show also made an appearance to assist Page in switching on the lights. All attendees were encouraged to walk around and receive free vouchers and treats. Visitors to Montecasino can visit the Magical Italian Village Lights until January 5 next year.
