Fourways dancer

FOURWAYS – The Dainfern College learner is looking forward to represent the country in Croatia next year.

Fourways-based dancer and learner at Dainfern College will represent South Africa at the DanceStar World Dance Masters in Croatia next year.

This was after Aneeqa Moore (11) took first place in the commercial hip-hop category at the 2021 DanceStar World Qualifiers competition in Centurion on September 25.

Aneeqa started dancing at the age of four and has a dream to perform on Broadway in New York one day. She said she looks forward to representing her country with pride in Croatia.

“I can’t wait to perform on the international stage and compete against the best in the world,” Aneeqa said.

“I love dancing because it helps me stay physically healthy and mentally strong.”

Her dance instructor at Xstatic Dance Studio situated in Pineslopes, Lindy Liebmann said Aneeqa had also participated virtually in the Dance World Cup finals in England.

“Aneeqa recently participated in the 2021 Dance World Cup qualifiers in South Africa in the hip-hop/commercial section and received second place and qualified to represent team, South Africa, at the Dance World Cup finals in England,” Liebmann said.

“Sadly, due to Covid-19 pandemic, she could not go dance in England [in person] but participated via video entry and took fourth place out of eight other dancers from countries all over the world,” she concluded.
