Young Nate was over the moon with his results. “I was so happy. I couldn’t believe that I had actually won. I was so nervous for the last race because even though I had won the first race, I needed to still win the second race to be the overall winner for the day,” he said.

He added he had felt nervous before the race since he was representing his province for the first time. “I was so proud to be part of the team and was so happy that I could contribute to the north region winning overall for the day.”

He started riding at the age of three after seeing his father and brother on their bikes.

Nate said he had prepared differently for this event than for other races. “For this race, I was more focused and did lots of pre-race practice on good line choices, this makes faster lap times.

“I also chose not to use the lines my mechanic told me to use because I know mine would be faster.”

Looking ahead, Nate said there were still more races he would ride in this year, but would ‘definitely be back at North vs South next year to defend my title’.
