Friendsgiving and the importance of gratitude for women
FOURWAYS – Women from various walks of life embraced each other in the theme of being grateful for people in one’s life.
Roses, sweet pastries and massages were on offer upon walking into the Friendsgiving by W-Suite event at Montecasino’s Palazzo Hotel on October 1.
The day’s events were to celebrate women who come from all walks of life and get together to rejoice the value of unwavering friendships and connections, along with the innate sense of gratitude that accompanies it.
Founder and CEO of W-Suite, Katie Mohamed, welcomed invited guests and gave a talk on women empowerment and the need to embrace gender equality.
Renowned South African poet Lebo Mashile and activist Zulaikha Patel were also present at the event. The former recited a poem on the subject of being grateful for life and the people in one’s life.
“When days are dark, friends should not be few. They should be stronger than ever. And we should be grateful for those who bring us the light.
“The Covid-19 pandemic, like a few major events in the last century, rewrote the rules of our socio-economic environment. Never has this modern world faced a crisis such as Covid-19. And yet, we are coming to realise more and more, that we are in this together,” said Mohamed.
She said she was hopeful to hold another event such as this next month after the success of this one.
