22 arrested for various offences

DOUGLASDALE – There were a number of suspects arrested for contravention of the Disaster Management Act at the weekend.


Douglasdale Police Station’s spokesperson, Captain Mpho Tshetlhane, said 22 suspects were arrested for various crimes recently.

“They were arrested for crimes ranging from possession of drugs, rape, pointing of firearm, assault with intention to do grievous bodily harm, theft, dealing in liquor without a license, assault common and drunken driving,” she said.

Among the arrested suspects, 14 were arrested for contravention of the Disaster Management Act. The suspects will soon appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court

Details: Police are appealing to the community to keep reporting all criminal activities by phoning 011 699 1300 or on 08600 10111. Alternatively, they can use the MySAPS to send anonymous tip-offs or go to the nearest police station.
