CPF acknowledges Douglasdale policewomen on Women’s Day

DOUGLASDALE – Women staff at the Douglasdale Police Station were given a token of appreciation by the CPF for Women’s Day.

The women of Douglasdale police were celebrated by the Community Policing Forum (CPF) on Women’s Day on August 9 at Douglasdale Police Station.

Female staff at the station, both day and night shift, were treated to a delicious lunch and spa gift by the CPF that was sponsored by a number of businesses in the area.

Chairperson of the CPF Lizzy Mabena said the initiative was planned after seeing the importance of the police over the past few months.

“We haven’t done something like this before but decided to do something after seeing how the police have been inundated with the shift changes and all the work they have been doing. They haven’t had a chance to sit back and relax.

“In commemoration of Women’s Day of the 20 000 women who marched to the Union Buildings in 1956, we thought to do a small gesture to say thank you for the hard work and commitment they have to the community. The station never closes, so this was a gesture for them to take home and pamper themselves,” she said.

Brigadier Veeshani Arikum extended her gratitude to the CPF for the gesture on behalf of the women at the station.

“I’d like to say thank you to Lizzy [Mabena] and the team for making this day special for all of us. It’s not every day that we are spoilt, but we really appreciate you making us feel special today.

“To the ladies here at Douglasdale, I really appreciate working with you and you are a really special team.”
