Police warn Level 3 lockdown restrictions still apply

SANDTON – Sandton police station commander Brigadier Egen Moodley urges community members and businesses to comply with Covid-19 regulations in order to flatten the Covid-19 curve.


Sandton police warn community members that the rules put in place alongside Level 3 lockdown restrictions still apply.

More than 50 suspects were arrested between July 26 and August 1, and among them, 25 were arrested for contravening the Disaster Management Act of 2002 under Level 3 lockdown restrictions.

Spokesperson for the Sandton Police Station Captain Bheki Xulu said, “Police are very cautious about people and businesses who don’t adhere to lockdown regulations.”

Among the suspects arrested over the previous week, three people were arrested for attempted murder and robbery with a firearm, two for assault under the Domestic Violence Act, two for intimidation, two for common robbery, two for driving under the influence of alcohol, one for rape, one for malicious damage to property, eight for shoplifting, one for theft, one for using a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, two for reckless and negligent driving and one for theft and fraud.
