Two Diepsloot suspects remanded in custody

DIEPSLOOT – An eyewitness came forward and implicated the two men in a murder.


Two male suspects have been remanded in custody after appearing in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 13 May for murder.

The murder allegedly took place in Diepsloot Ext 5 on 14 February.

The suspects, aged 25 and 37 allegedly assaulted a 45-year-old man which led to his death. They apparently dumped his body in a stream located nearby.

Spokesperson for the Diepsloot Police Station, Captain Tinyiko Mathebula said there was an eyewitness who shared a house with the suspects and gave an account of what happened.

“The witness came to the police on 10 May. She alleges that the victim was assaulted by her two male fellow tenants in the early hours of 14 February,” he said.

“She took the police to her place of residence in Ext 5 to point out the suspects. The suspects were then arrested and appeared in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.”

The two suspects are set to appear in court again at a later date.
