Man arrested for damage to state vehicle

DIEPSLOOT – Police were tending to a domestic violence complaint when the suspect allegedly stoned the state vehicle on the scene.


A 42-year-old man was arrested on 6 May for malicious damage to state property after he allegedly threw stones at a state vehicle in Diepsloot Ext 2.

Spokesperson for the Diepsloot Police Station, Captain Tinyiko Mathebula said, “The suspect allegedly [threw stones at] the vehicle after the police had arrested his brother who is a suspect in a domestic violence complaint.

“He was subsequently arrested and charged with malicious damage to property and will appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.”

Station Commander of Diepsloot Police Station, Brigadier Koena Moichela said he was shocked at the ‘blatant criminality’ of the suspect. “I commend the members’ professional conduct in handling this violent situation. The police will stop at nothing in stamping the authority of the State.”
