Fence your property

GLEN AUSTIN – 'The fencing of properties helps to differentiate between private and public properties as the government owns land in Glen Austin,' said John Mphatsoe, chairperson for the Glen Austin Residents Association.

The Glen Austin Residents Association appeals to plot owners whose properties are not barricaded to fence them.

The announcement was made by John Mphatsoe, the newly elected chairperson for the Glen Austin Residents Association on 11 April.

Mphatsoe explained that fencing needed to be done to secure the properties as required by the municipal by-laws.

He added that there are plots and properties that had been left unattended for many years and they were struggling to find the owners of those properties. “The fencing of properties helps to differentiate between private and public properties as the government owns land in Glen Austin.

“This also helps to facilitate eviction in case of land invasion. Maintaining the property makes it neat and deters criminal activities such as thieves hiding in those properties since, there are also no street lights in the area.”

He concluded that they were battling illegal dumping as well, but by fencing off properties, instances of illegal dumping could decrease. “This will ultimately help to improve security in the area.”
